5.6.1.1. A main bird migration route exists along the western coastal plain of Saudi Arabia. A secondary route is from the north end of the Arabian Gulf through Central Saudi Arabia to the Southwest Arabian Peninsula/East Africa area. Migratory birds are geese, ducks and cranes during the months of March to May and September to November. Hawks may be encountered year round in mountainous areas and sea gulls near populated coastal areas.
Bird avoidance techniques should be followed strictly.

5.6.1.2 Reporting of bird strike
|
Statistically, Dammam / King Fahd International (OEDF) , Jeddah / King Abdulaziz International (OEJN), Madinah / Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International (OEMA), Riyadh / King Khaled International (OERK), Abha(OEAB), Al Baha / King Saud Bin Abdulaziz Airport (OEBA), Al Jouf (OESK), Jazan / King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz (OEGN), Bisha (OEBH) and Tabuk / Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz (OETB) airports have the highest rate of bird strike incidents.
Pilots, ground crew, and airport personnel are encouraged to complete the GACA Flight Safety Department "Bird Strike Report Form", (see ENR 5.6-2), available from airport management, upon experiencing or becoming aware of a bird strike.

5.6.1.3 DAMMAM / KING FAHD INTERNATIONAL Airport (OEDF)

Due to presence of birds in the vicinity of Dammam / King Fahd International Airport and surrounding airport, pilot shall exercise caution particulary during take- off and landing, and below 10 000 FT AMSL.

5.6.1.4 Madinah / Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (OEMA)
|
Due to presence of birds in the vinicity of Madinah / Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport, pilot shall exercise caution particularly during take-off and landing, and below 10 000 FT AMSL.

5.6.1.5 Jeddah / King Abdulaziz International Airport (OEJN)
|
Flocks of large migratory birds, geese, cranes, ducks, may be overflying the aerodrome during the months of March to May and September to November. Wing span of some species exceed one metre. Pilot shal exercise caution prticularly below 12 000FT AMSL.
Large number of Black Birds and Sea gulls encountered in the vinicity of Jeddah / King Abdulaziz International airport pilots shall exercise caution during landing and take off.

5.6.1.6 Riyadh / King Khaled International Airport (OERK)

Due to presence of birds in the vinicity of Riyadh / King Khaled International Airport, pilots shall exercise caution particularly during take-off and landing, and below 13 000FT AMSL.

5.6.1.7 Abha Airport (OEAB)
|
Large number of blackcrows may be encountered during the period from 15 May to 31 August, with average weight of birds ranging from 1 to 2 KG. Pilot shall exercise caution in the vinicity of Abha Airpot particularly during take-off and landing, and below 14 000FT AMSL.

5.6.1.8 Jazan / King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz (OEGN)
|
Large flocks of migratory birds may be overflying the aerodrome during March to October. The highest concentration of birds may be observed at dawn and at dusk. Pilot shall exercise caution in the vinicity of Jazan / King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Airport particularly during take-off and landing, and below 6 500FT AMSL.

5.6.1.9 Al Baha / King Saud Bin Abdulaziz Airport Airport (OEBA)

Due to presence of birds, pilot shall exercise caution in the vicinity of Al Baha / King Saud Bin Abdulaziz Airport particulary during takeoff and landing, and below 6 000 FT AMSL.

5.6.1.10 Bisha Airport (OEBH)

Due to presence of birds, pilot shall exercise caution in the vicinity of Bisha Airport particulary during take-off and landing, and below 8 500 FT AMSL.

5.6.1.11 Tabuk / Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Airport (OETB)

Due to presence of birds, pilot shall exercise caution in the vicinity of Tabuk / Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Airport particulary during take-off and landing, and below 9 000 FT AMSL.

5.6.1.12 Al Jouf Airport (OESK)

Due to presence of birds, pilot shall exercise caution in the vicinity of Al Jouf Airport particulary during take-off and landing, and below 5 500 FT AMSL.

5.6.1.13 Sharurah Airport
|
Bird strike hazard exist large population of black crows which weights from 1 to 2 KG on the average, during the period from 15 MAY to 31 AUG. pilots shall exercise caution in the vicinity of Sharurah Airport during take-off and landing.
